My racing off-season is winding down, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't reached any of my goals yet, but I am still working towards them. This will have been a five- or six-month break, and I needed it after last year's off-season. Will I be as relaxed and take as much of a break next season? I don't know!
Since I spent most of the last off-season doing two engine swaps, I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to refresh and clean up the rest of the car, which has been the name of the game this year. Some of the projects I've worked on:
- Thoroughly cleaned and washed everything
- Had the MCS dampers rebuilt and Novec fire bottle serviced
- Cleaned, lubed, and replaced suspension bearings/bushings
- Replaced the ragged fender liners and fixed underbody panels
- Fixed some surface rust due to brake fluid spillage
- Cleaned up the interior with new dash trim and new labels
- Fixed the alignment of the fenders, side skirts, and doors
- Replaced the failing alternator
- In process: upgrading to '335i' brakes and replacing wheel studs
As I continue to prepare for the upcoming season, I find my to-do list is still quite long. However, I'm at a point where I need to prioritize and put some items on the back burner so that I can focus on pre-season testing.
More updates to come soon. In the meantime, we'll close with some recent garage snap-shots.
